When an employee is injured and requires medical attention, we make sure that the employer is informed of their condition and status. Our services help to ensure that the individual gets the attention they need and also aids in the return to work process.
The following injuries and conditions are to be transported directly to the Emergency Room. DO NOT SEND TO THE WORKCARE CLINIC.
Any employee who is injured on the job and immobilized (transported by ambulance) is to be taken to the Emergency Department.
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Unconscious
- Signs of shock
- Major trauma
- Head injury with unconsciousness. Head injury with neck pain.
- Partial or complete amputation of extremities. Open long bone fractures.
- Open wounds of the chest or abdomen.
- Injury to the back or neck causing numbness or loss of function of extremities.
- Presentation with signs of a Stroke.
The following injuries and conditions may be sent to the WorkCare Clinic.
If the employee is mobile and the ambulance is only being used as a mechanism for transport, they may be brought to the clinic.
WorkCare reserves the right to triage and send on to the Emergency Department if a condition so warrants.
The above listed conditions that do not meet Occupational Health Clinic criteria are considered Trinity Health System Emergency Department patients and are charged hospital rates accordingly.
